Common Transit Convention

Full CTC coverage across the UK, EU and EFTA contracting parties

The Common Transit Convention (CTC) lets goods move under a single transit procedure across the UK, all EU member states, the EFTA countries (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) and other contracting parties such as Türkiye, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine. CTC is the legal framework that underpins T1 and T2 movements outside the EU's internal market.

We advise on the right procedure for your route, set up and maintain Comprehensive Guarantees (CGUs), handle Authorised Consignor / Consignee permissions where helpful, and act as your end-to-end transit partner from Office of Departure to Office of Destination — including any Office of Transit notifications in between.

How It Works

  1. 1Review your route and choose T1 / T2 / TIR procedure
  2. 2Set up or top up the appropriate transit guarantee
  3. 3File declarations and TADs for each leg
  4. 4Coordinate with Authorised Consignor / Consignee partners
  5. 5Reconcile discharge and release guarantee
